Peep and the Big Wide World is an American/Canadian produced Flash animation television series created by Canadian Animator Kaj Pindal and based on the 1988 short film Peep and the Big Wide World produced by the National Film Board of Canada. The current series premiered on April 12, 2004, on Discovery Kids and on TLC on the block Ready Set Learn. It debuted on PBS Kids on April 12, 2004. It was produced by WGBH, and 9 Story Entertainment. The series ran on April 12, 2004, through October 14, 2011, with 55 episodes, but on October 10, 2010, the series was removed on the Discovery Kids lineup due from the new channel The Hub Network. However, the series was playing the remaining episodes on PBS Kids. It now airs nationally in the United States on public television, distributed by American Public Television. Peep and the Big Wide World is currently sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The National Science Foundation is the only permanent sponsor of the show. Northrop Grumman is funded for only season 4.
